Topic: 34 rear fender types

My 34 5W was disassembled when purchased and my rear fenders do not meet the gas tank cover. They are maybe 1/2 inch too narrow at the gas tank cover bead. Why would Ford made different rear fenders? Wouldn't different gas tank covers be needed as well? Thanks for helping...

The question would be do you have coupe fenders? Since the car came to you disassembled it could be you have sedan fenders rather than coupe/roadster fenders. To my knowledge all gas tank covers are the same size. It's only the fenders that are different.

  trjford8:
I assume you are right about all 34 gas tank covers being the same...if so, how do the different fenders fit correctly? The sedan quarter panels and deck contours at the tail light area are different from the coupe/roadster, right?

MICHV8, I checked the V-8 Club's 33-34 book and the gas tank covers are the same for all models. I looked for some details on the difference in rear fenders , but could not find any info to compare the differences. I do know that there is s difference in width between the coupe/roadster fenders and the sedan fenders. I believe that the coupe roadster fenders are wider than the sedan fenders. Hopefully a 33-34 expert will chime in with more info.
