My '38 trunk lock mechamism is frozen. How long it has been frozen is unknown. The previous owner had the car for 14 years and never had a key. I have used various penetrating oils with no luck. I took the lock to a local locksmith with no luck. Any ideas? Ray

It is possible the lock cylinder is damaged from corrosion. It is also possible the cylinder will not turn because you do not have the proper key or the locksmith was unable to pick the lock and get it to turn or fit a key from impression. I would send the lock assembly to a smith with a bit of experience with the Ford cylinders, if the smith can get the lock cylinder to turn it can then be removed and a proper key can be made using the key code stamped into the side of the cylinder. The glove box lock and the trunk originally operated on the same key codes. Don't give up hope. I have used Doug Vogel for many Ford locks. If the cylinder is damaged it can still be removed and replaced with another cylinder.

Thanks for the Doug Vogel reference. Doug had to replace the lock cylinder. I've reinstalled everything and now I have a lockable trunk. I believe this is the first time the trunk lock has functioned in over 15 years. The previous owner stated he never a trunk key. Again thanks. Ray Ray
