I am trying to find the paint code for a 1948 factory gray dash, it looks to be metallic. Thanks Ed

Ed, The V-8 Club has a restoration book for 1941-48 Fords. Pg E-5 Shows a Dupont paint formula for mixing Gray Metallic paint used for 1948 Ford interiors. I believe that the book can be purchased here on the Club's website for $22.

edscoupe .... I had to repair part of my '47 dash which uses the Ford "Gray Metallic" paint color. I have the 1941-1948 Early Ford V8 Club book which shows color samples. I took the book and one of my dash board ash tray covers to my local Lowe's store and found that Rust-oleum #7784 Charcoal Gray gloss enamel in a spray can appeared to be a match for it. The product bar code # is 20066 77848. I brought it home and sprayed a sample of sheet metal coated with gray auto primer. It matched the original dash nicely.

I suggest you do the same, first spraying a sample surface, to see if you feel the same. Your dash may have experienced differing environmental conditions which could affect the current color tone.
