Topic: 1936 differences

Bob56    -- 10-23-2016 @ 8:57 AM
  I was at the Western meet and looking at the 1936 cars that were there. Mine seems to be so much different. Fuel pump, cap on top of generator and location of condenser. I would like to show the car next year and I know I have a lot of work to do. Are these differences because mine is a late 36 or are they just wrong

  Bob,

You really need to purchase the club's book that covers the 1936 Ford, https://www.earlyfordv8.org/Shop.cfm?id=18&pid=2
I think I have a couple of answers but I am really not that knowledgeable on the '36 Fords so to be safe I will just reference the book.

  Bob;
Looks to me like your 1936 may have a radio. The condenser on the oil sender unit, and the larger voltage regulator on the generator are give-aways.
Now, there were no gas filters on fuel pumps in 1936, so your fuel pump is incorrect and a later model.

Charlie is right -- get the 1935-1936 Ford Book -- I verified my answers from viewing your attached photos and then checking in the book.

  Bob,your FP is wrong its a 47-48 model. Cant make out the cond. location! the gizmo on the gen. is a highly sought after a dual rate cutout mainly for cars equipted with a radio.Worth mucho $$. I have USA rebuilt correct pumps for sale. Call if you want for more info. I have a 36 coupe for 25 yrs so I know them pretty well. ken ct. 1-203-260-5945 cell.

  Thanks all. I have the book on order. Learned a lot at the western meet, hope to have enough done to mine for next years so the judges can pick it apart so I make sure I get everything right.

  Bob, Next year's Western National is next September, in Salem, Oregon. Early registration fee is only $50 now, and your '36 will be welcome there whether you have it point judged or not. Check out the registration form here on this website under "Upcoming Events".
