Back in the 50s, 2 of my friends had convertibles like this. To the best of my memory they did not.

49 Ford did have robe cords on the back of each front seat. Mine had them and Labaron Bonney made new ones as part of the kit we bought. If my memory is correct, the chromed metal ends are the same for 49 and 50 but different for 51. Jim Farrell

There is a'49 Ford convertible on Ebaymotors. One of the photos shows the robe rails on the back of the front seats. The Ebay number is 162249236539
