Topic: Carb leaking

I bought a rebuilt carb in January of this year. Installed it sometime in March. The car has been driven less than a 100 miles with this carb. Today I was trying to get the throttle return spring installed which was not letting the throttle return to idle and the carb started leaking around its base. Tightened the 3 nuts on the intake. Started the car and gas started leaking out of the top and so tightened the screws there. None of this helped. It is still leaking in both areas. Any ideas why it would be leaking all of a sudden? The rebuild guy is one of the best so I am stumped as to what could have caused this. Ideas and suggestions appreciated. Thanks in advance.

As Allen said, could have a hole in float or excessive fuel pump pressure especially if one of the newly made ones coming out of China. Too strong a spring under the diaphragm. Its typical of all China made pumps coming into the usa, check the float for leak in hot water (the leak will send out a bubble stream like an old inner tube) ken ct. 1-203-260-5945 cell.

Call the guy that rebuilt the carb and talk it over with him.
