Thoughts, recommendations, experiences on resilvering original 36 Ford headlight reflectors or replacing with aftermarkets such as available at Mac's.

Thanks.

I would go with my original reflectors and have them resilvered. The reproduction reflectors never seem to fit right.

It would be valuable to you if you added your general location to your profile. There may be a place close to you to have the reflectors resilvered that someone could recommend. A good alternative to silver is aluminum. Don't laugh, they use aluminum for medical, telescope and spacecraft mirrors where they don't cut corners to save money. Go to fordbarn.com and search "UVIRA". The aluminum is more expensive but you need to make the trade off.

I have been down the reflector headlight road several times. Tried halogen conversions, which were a waste of money because they don't work well with the original lens which are designed for "pre-focused" bulbs.
The best way to go is to have an original set of reflectors nickle plated, then send them of to UVIRA in Oregon to have their glass coating applied over the nickle. The coated nickle will never tarnish and has the highest reflective qualities.
Ron Francis has 36-39 style of bulbs which have higher candle power, they are called "bright bulbs"..

If you are 12 volts check out the "Brite Bulbs" from Ron Francis Wire Works, https://www.ronfrancis.com, (800) 292-1940. This may be what Bill was recommending with a slightly different spelling. His spell check may have "fixed" it.
