my cowl code on my 1950 2 door custom is : atac11g349x. I cant decode it per the info provided, as its short of numbers/letters, I checked to see if maybe something was bondo over, it appears not as the cowl has a nice even depression in the areas. any body help ?

I HAVE TO ASSUME NOBODY HAS A ANSWER TO MY QUESTION FROM BACK IN SEPT AS TO COWL VIN NUMBERS, I THINK FMC AT THAT TIME DID NOT ENFORCE DRINKING ON THE JOB !!!!! ONLY ANSWER I GOT

Tony, atac11g349x: The AT is Atlanta assembly plant, then should be C70 for Custom Tudor, then Paint Code; B,thru 5 to 14. At the time, Atlanta had the highest quality output of all the plants. The stamper in your case had a loose "screw" or had an axe to grind. As the 1950 Ford book shows that some 18 different set of codes where found on the 1950 codes. Good Luck

I'd guess your car was originally black (A) with Custom Mohair, blue gray stripe upholstery (C) and was built on 11 July (G). The numbers following the date (349x) are a unit production code of some sort (not the serial number). If so, it's just the Body Code (70B for a Custom Deluxe Tudor built after May 12) that is missing.
