Is there any precautions I should take when starting my flathead that has not been started in seven months?
Thanks.

I would remove all of the spark plugs and spray fogging oil in each cylinder. Then I would crank the engine with the starter for about 1 minute in 10 second burst with 10 second between them. Replace the spark plugs and try to start it. If it doesn't fire, use a small amount of starting fluid in the carburetor and try again.

If you didn't use Sta-Bil or other fuel preserver, it is a good idea to drain and replace the gas with fresh fuel.
