I should know this but birthdays got in the way. I put an 8BA in my 36 4dr. All I remember is a little fiddlin
with the fan. Problem now is to remove my 59A and replace with a sweet late Merc. that's in a F6 truck. I should think its plug and play. I do not want to start
altering things because this is only temporary, while
I rebuild (its my only transportation). My engine has
20" vac compression within 3 or 4 lbs 45lb oil press.
but this anoying tap tap tap and aint no valve noise, so I'm saying the tap is piston speed. But then any rpm over say 600 the noise is gone - only taps comming done to idle. I ran into this with a 391 that you swear it was a lifter. No= bad wrist pin bushings. I am showing 72000 miles and I believe it. Or we have a fresh EBA all standard quiet as a cat in stock thats spoken for: maybe I can borrow it for couple weeks (my sons engine) should say I'm new here but old.. here rebuilding and rebuilding don't matter what make we do. sam sr

listen at the rear of the motor. Sounds like the tapping may be the fuel pump push rod.

No I checked that, definitely going at crankshaft speed.
