Topic: Turn Signal Installation on 1941

  All,
Once again I come to the well for guidance. I am in the process of installing turn signals on my 41 Tudor. The signal device is a nos sigflare 900 series. I purchased this on line in new condition. I also got a TF 535 flasher to complete the needed circuit. Now, I have installed the switch on the column, connected all the correct wires to the flasher according to the diagram and connected the power outlet to the ammeter wire at the firewall. This is where it becomes fuzzy. When I place a fuse into the power wire the lights on the switch come on, will not go off until I take out the fuse. I do not have any lights hooked up yet as I wanted to make sure I had the first part hooked up correctly. What have I done wrong? Is my connection to the ammeter correct.

Help,

Curts41

Is your switch 7-wire or 4-wire?

I am sorry, I neglected to say that the switch is a 7 wire type

Put a voltmeter across the fuse holder to see if there is a voltage drop. You should see no reading. Inline fuse holders often have this problem. When installed in high current systems, they can melt! I suspect low voltage at the flasher is your problem.

Hook up your wires to the lights and then test again. You need a certain amount of current in the system to make the flasher work.

The ampmeter wire is a constant "hot". You need to connect the power source to the "ign" post of the ignition switch.
