  Howdy!
I am looking for a complete cig lighter for a 47 Ford pickup, I am interested in any photos, locations, etc if anyone has them. Were they black, green, did they have any marking on them, etc.
THANK YOU!

Rick

  Rick,

The 42 thru 47 trucks did not come from ford with a factory lighter. The only dash features were: CHOKE, THROTTLE, HEADLIGHTS, STARTER BUTTON, DASh LIGHT switch. I don't see why you couldn't use a 41 to 48 car lighter unit...you would just need to drill a hole thru the dash, or fix it to a separate bracket.

Good luck

Justin

A cig lighter was a period correct option, I know few came from the factory that way, I do have period correct literature showing it to be an option. They were more seen with mercury trucks but you could get a Ford with them.

Here is the only drawing that I could find of the cigar lighter in a 46 truck.

I am not a truck guy, but here is my opinion. I hope someone corrects any errors in it.

It appears that they were standard in the Mercury trucks.

The knob color would be the same as the other knobs in the dashboard, and the shape would be the same. The dot in the center of the knob was probably red, just like on the cars.

If you are a member of the Early Ford V-8 Club, you could ask the Adviser for your vehicle for information or you could look in the roster for other owners of 47 pickups to see if they have any other information.
