Hi: I am kind of puzzled as to what tire size should my 157" wb truck should use. The owner's manual states all of the following: 600 X 20 650 X 20 700 X 20 32 X 6 (8 ply truck type) 32 X 6 (10 ply heavy duty) 32 X 7 So, first question is, why the variety? What should i use? So far, looking at Coker's site, I have only been able to find a 650 X 20 at $162: http://store.cokertire.com/650-20-firestone-blackwall-truck.html Second question is if anybody knows of another source where I could find some other option, and why not say it, cheaper? My truck is far from good at this moment and I am not ready to spend that much to get it rolling. Thanks, Victor

The 1934 Trucks came standard with single wheels on the front using 6.00X20-6 ply and singles on the rear using 32X6-8ply (High Pressure). Various options of tire sizes and arrangements were offered. Various model 157"wb trucks such as Platform,Stake,Panel, etc. were offered so that this, and the intended duty of the Truck, had a lot to do with the selection of wheels and tires. In addition to the the sizes you listed the 30X5-8ply was also an option. Can not tell you what is the best for you, nor what is available out there. Maybe something similar in size is available at a more reasonable price. Perhaps another V-8'er will chime in with their experiences. Hope this helps. Lincoln.

I am not sure if the setback on 34 wheels is different from the 30 to 33 wheels. The bolt pattern is different to allow for floating axels. On page 44 of the 1932 to 36 engine and chassis repair manual, under Effect of Oversized Tires on Camber Adjustment, it states that a special hub has to be used with 700. Also on my 1932BB 700 tires on the rear would rub together. The 1932 Ford Book states in chapter 4 page four that 700's were dropped late in the year when it was found that they hit the front brake rods when turning. I have used 650 Denman tires from Coker and have had good luck and no handling problems with them. The 600 tires were 30 inches in diameter and the 650's are 34 inches. I believe thet 700 was 36 diameter. Lots to consider!

I found my Coker tire catalog from 2005. It seems that prices have gone up dramatically and selection has gone down, possibly due to belt tightening. I hope suppliers make it through these economic conditions as we need them! A spec. sheet from the catatlog indicates the Cross Section of the no longer available 650 Denman as 6.3 inches and the 650 Firestone as 7.8 inches. Duals will rub for sure! Try Lucas tire. Put your wheels together as they would be on the rear axel and try to get a center to center measurement to figure clearance between tires. Let us know what you end up with!

Thanks for the responses. Assuming that only 650 X 20 is available (at least from Coker), is it correct to use the same measurement both front and in both rear tires? Victor
