Need help on how to remove the steering column horn button and location of horn relay. I cannot turn the button counter clock wise for removal. Direct wire shows the horn works but weak. Thanks, Rob

The horn relay should be mounted on the horn bracket. It is probably the source of your problem.

The horn button just supplies a ground to the relay, when the relay activates, the horns get their electricity through the relay points. There should be a 12gauge wire feeding one side of the relay with -6v and a 16 gauge wire going from the +side of the relay to the light switch, where it will be grounded when the horn button is pressed.

The relay points develop resistance when they are not used much, reducing the voltage and amperage to the horn motors. Opening the relay case and cleaning the contact points, solves many horn problems.

The horn button is connected to a rod that terminates in the headlight switch at the bottom of the steering column. It is very unlikely that the button or rod is your problem. In order to remove the rod and button, you will have to drop the steering column, so the rod can be removed without bending.

the horn relay for trucks and early cars is built into the back of the horn, two wires go to the horn. one is the ground that goes to the horn button the other is a power wire. to adjust the relay, remove the back cover on horn and look for contact relay points screw on them is what you adjust. but first just clean the points with fine sandpaper
