it gets very hot when the engine is running is this normal? what if it gets too hot? I was searching why my truck suddenly dies , Petrol pump, electricity, stops. no power i have an 1940 truck 1 1/2 ton 95 hp and i have got runnings problems warm days first i thought it was hot fuel with gas in the carburator but the electric pump will stop, the truck are not going to start, seams dead. a friend told me to check the circuit braker. Have someone some experience of this problems ?

While it could be a resistor problem, it could also be a failing ignition coil. Many aftermarket resistors are poor quality, and may separate from the end terminals due to thermal expansion. Nichrome wire can be difficult to secure. If your coil is original or old, ' it is common to fail as ot heats up during driving. The cure is to have it rebuilt or replaced. Carry a clip lead wire with you.. If and when the problem appears, clip the wire across the resistor. If it starts and runs, you have located the cause. If not, the next move is the coil. If the vehicle loses all power, check all battery connections to be sure they are clean and tight. Most old cars don't have fuses. This message was edited by supereal on 7-13-14 @ 6:55 PM
