  Please help
I installed a Vintage Air Gen2 heater kit in my 1951 F3 V8(239) but I cannot get any heat. The blower and the control valve are working fine. I connected the intake heater hose to the top of left block (near the temp sender) and the return hose to left water pump housing. Is this correct?

I think you meant to say that you connected to the right (passenger) side head and water pump. It should work unless there is an obstruction somewhere. Disconnect the water pump and see if water flows out of the heater hose.

Richard gave you good advice, you may just have an air block in the heater and disconnecting the hose at the water pump will allow the air to bleed out.

  Richard,
Thanks for your advice. I checked as suggested and discovered the water only flows when the engine is above idle. I get good circulation when RPM's are above 8,000.

Are you sure that your thermostats are working properly?

Your description of flow sounds like the thermostat on the passenger side is closed or there is a blockage internal to the head.

You want to route the heater hose from the output side of the right hand water pump to the inlet (top) tube of the heater core to get the best flow of water through the heater. The outlet (bottom) tube of the heater core should be routed to the right hand cylinder head.

Terrydayly07: I would think that 8000 RPM's are just a "bit much" for any flattie except Ron Main's "Flatfire"!

  Tom,
Thanks for the advice. I have ordered new thermostats and will let you know how I make out.
