Topic: 46 1/2 ton steering

I've recently rebuilt the steering box and reinstalled the steering shaft and wheel on a 46 p/u. While underneath the truck with a friend inside the cab turning the wheel to make sure we had it more or less put back correctly I noticed the frame twisting back and forth with the direction of the steering wheel. It seemed to move much more than it should. I don't have much experience with this age pickup. Should there be any flex in the frame in this manner? The tires are older bias ply which are starting to go flat. Would the extra resistance of the partially flat tires be enough to cause this? Should I be worried?

Be sure the steering gear is firmly attached to the frame. When the wheel is turned while the truck is not moving, a bit of flexing isn't unusual, as long as it isn't excessive, and the frame isn't cracked or broken in the area of the steering gear.
