I would like to lower my F-1 (1949) I am using 15" wheels and would like to get her a couple inches lower and not bottom out on small bumps, can this be done in the springs only ??

For a mild drop that doesn't affect handling, the simplest way is to use "reverse eye" springs. For information contact Chassis Enginering. Their tech line is 319/643-2655. The website is www.chassisengineeringinc.com

You may also want to look at Speedwaymotors.com. I bought a pair of Posey springs (made in the USA) from them to lower the front of my 53' F100 and they worked out great. These are also the reverse eye type.

Fred, you could also find a spring shop and have the original springs de-arched. Tell them how much you want to lower the truck and they will make the appropriate adjustment to the springs. You have also been given some other good suggestions. If you want to spend more money you can get a dropped axle.
