I have a 1947 1.5 ton and no key to unlock the steering I hade a lock smith come over and he thinks the lock is froozen and can't make a key need help any ideas thanks Dan

Dan, As a last resort, I have drilled a small hole in the pin that retains the the lock cylinder in place for a self tapping screw. Then after installing the screw use a claw hammer to pull out the retaining pin. Then screw a sheet metal screw into the lock cylinder key slot and pull it out the same way. It will ruin the lock cylinder but the column bracket and switch will be unharmed. You will have to use a screw driver or small prybar to slide the lock pin over to unlock the switch and steering wheel once you remove the lock cylinder. Your ignition key and your door lock key should be the same. See if you can remove the door lock cylinder and read the key code on the side of the cylinder. It will be 2 letters followed by 3 numbers. The first letter will be an "F" ie FH123. Any lock smith worth his salt can punch you a new key from the code.
