Topic: 39 pickup crankshaft pulley

My research shows a 39 engine has the long snout crank 26.03 inches. The longer snout is @ .130 inch larger in diameter than the short snout. The only crank pulley I have that fits the long snout crank has a fan hub on it. So, my question is, What is the correct crankshaft pulley for a 39 pickup ?

Thanks, Mike

The original crank pulley for your truck is the 81C 6312-A. It is a single sheave, 5" pulley. It was used only in '39. Four cranks were used in '39, but all were the same length, 26". Earlier 8 cylinder engines such as 32-36 used a shorter 24 15/32 crank and a smaller diameter 2" main. All the later type used 2.50" mains. The longer crank didn't arrive until '42. The 26.03 crank (8BA 6303) was used as a service replacement from '39-'48. I assume the early 8BA pulley with the wide belt would work. I can't address the difference in snout diameter, as it doesn't show in the specs. As the rope seals were used, that difference in diameter would't matter. Almost all old Ford engines became a "mix and match" over the decades, and this presents problems for those wishing to be "correct".

Thanks !! I searched that part number and found a pic. It looks just like the one with the fan hub, but with the fan hub part cut off.
