I have two 37 ford pu trucks basket cases where can I find formal or informal instructions to put these back together. ANY THING I could get would be very appreciated thanks Larry

Larry, I've had my 37 for 40 years and never had the time or money to restore it. I retired 6 months ago and right now I have it stripped to the frame. I have replaced the original cable brakes and the frame is almost ready to start assembling. I have received a ton of help on the Ford Barn site. There are dozens of places to buy parts also. find a reproduction parts book, also a reproduction service manual, even if they are for auto's they will be of help to you. Hopefully you are a member of the EFV-8 club, the V-8 Times Mag is worth it's weight in gold and with the next year being the 75th Ann of the 37-there will be a great deal of info in the magazine-research then ask questions there are enought of us out there to answer most of them good luck

I also bought a 37 PU basket case. And, like you (but not as smart) figured "two to make one" - bought a mostly intact 38. When project was finished (6 years), the 38 sat untouched! But, it did serve as something of a template. I was, and still am, a know-nothing - attracted by looks of the 37, and it an I have same birthday! Found a local body shop wizard (hot-rod specialist) who agreed to take it on as a 'time filler'. But, he'd never done anything older than a 57 Chev. And, we'd not been present when it was dismantled - nothing was labeled or categorized. Did not know that the 37 a 'one-year' vehicle. Plus, this a 60 Horse - what a bastard-child that has become. But it did get finished, and is a jaw-dropping prize winner. I've often said that were I not retired, I couldn't have gotten it done, and, I didn't do the work!! -- Internet, telephone, books, journals, manuals etc., finding expertise, tips, parts,......... I've accumulated something of a library which could be helpful - will be happy to share what I have with you, if you're interested. dtownes@windstream.net Additionally, I'll soon be posting for sale another 37PU, 85, driver, unrestored, mostly original - runs great. Larry, the chassis on the pickup is the same as the passenger car, so the V-8 Club's 37 book could help you a lot in that area. If you join the V-8 Club the V-8 Times magazine will also answer some of your questions. In addition you will get a club roster which is invaluable. You will likely find V-8ers who live near you who can be a wealth of knowledge. I have found that most in the roster will gladly help another club member.

I'm probably not the best one to answer but I'm restoring a '37 as well. The E-brake is on the left side of the steering wheel, a handle with release. I'm struggling with the cables and wishbone arrangement myself.

Check the C&G online catalog (www.cgfordparts.com). They have pages of shop manuals, parts books, wiring diagrams, and other resources. Without this material, trying to restore a basket case is a bit like touring without a good road map.

Tinner, With Larry T's permission, I, too, have a 37 truck, 1/2 t panel delivery, and have a couple extra E brake handles {no cable}. If you need one, call me at 910 864-8126. These are NOS but shelf worn and are I think Winterleaf brown. Ron.
