Topic: mounting the cab on 37 pickup

I put the cab on the fram of my 37 pick up i noticed that the front of the cab where it mounts is about a quarter inch high, or above the frame, the wood under the cab is correct, my question is other than the welting is there anything that goes under the front corners of the cab where it bolts down to the fram or is it possible that the cab is sprung

I have yet to mount a body on a frame without having to juggle the body to frame pads. These pads are available from good vendors such as C&G in various sizes. The pads serve to cushion the cab or body, and compensate for any "wracking" of either body or frame. They are particularly important in open cars to assist in getting the doors to fit properly. I'm not a big fan of "frame off" restoration, as refitting the body can be a very long and frustrating process.

was there a pad under there from the factory or will i use the pad you are talking about in order to compensate for the gap

There are two kinds of pads or spacers used at the factory, a wooden block or a rubber type. I have used common wooden door shims, available at home centers, for the purpose. They are tapered and allow lots of adjustment. Slide them into the gap until they fill it, then remove the excess. as they can't be seen when in place, no one knows what you used.

It's been a few years since I dismantaled my pickup, but, besides the long oak boards that go under the cab, there was frame welting (a thick burlap material) that went under the boards, and rectangluar rubber spacers with holes in them. These rubber spacers fit between the frame welting and the boards. The holes in them allowed for the mounting bolts to go through.

Hope this helps.
