Topic: 1949 F-1 Engine Swap?

Last Sat. AM, I was enjoying my nice ride, when a loud thud and billows of smoke occurred. You guessed it, it chucked a rod out the side of the block(original 226 inline six). The tranny and driveline are original and in good shape. Does anyone know of what engines will hook up to the orig. 4speed tranny (granny 1st gear)and original driveline? Thanks, DVC

The bolt pattern on the bell housing will determine how late a motor you can use. I suspect you can use the Ford 6 up into the 70's. If you have a Ford dealership in your area with some seasoned mechanics they may be able to help. You might also try your question at; www.ford-trucks.com
