Topic: original stakebody value

I have an original 12' ford stakebody. The condition is fair but would take some work to straighten the sides. I feel it would be cheaper to make new sides. My question is, would I lose value to the truck by not having original sides, and how important would it be if I did'nt use rivets for the stake pockets? It also has the ford script on the back. I am thinking about cutting it out and welding it into a new rear piece. any suggestions?

I purchased the bed components and remade the bed for my 41 3/4 ton truck by welding the frame together, drilled holes and put short rivits in to make it look more "real", I also cut the scrip out of a junk 47 truck hood and milled out the rear cross memeber and installed the scrip. May not be an original bed, but sure looks better than trying to restore the hard used original

Unless the stake bed had a Ford script on the rear edge, it wasn't likely it was a factory installation. Most beds, other than pickups were either dealer installed, or sent to a place like Omaha Body to be added. I drove a number of them for that purpose.
