springs go on bottom, where there not bolts or the remains sticking up in the 4 x 6 boards? and there was no pad between frame and wood runners

CAB MOUNTS ARE ON, THANK YOU.I DON'T REMEMBER ANY BOLTS STICKING UP NOR ANY PADS BETWEEN THE 4X6 AND THE FRAME, BUT THAT DOES'T MEAN THERE SHOULDN'T BE.I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE TRUCK WAS USED FOR. I THINK THAT IT HAD A WOOD MADE FLATBED AT ONE TIME AND MAY HAVE ROTTED AWAY.I NOW HAVE THE CORRECT FORD 12' STEEL FRAME STAKEBODY.

The truck bodies we mounted came with flat "stringers" that ran the length of the bed, and were spaced to conform to the frame width. If the frame had a "kick up" as was often the case with light trucks, we traced the frame and had pieces bandsawed to lay on the frame, and present a flat surface to the body of the bed. The attachment was by large u-bolts with square corners, and flat steel plates to span the bottom of the "U". At least four were used on light trucks, more on the tonners and above. The real challenge came when we mounted dump beds, or special configurations such as mixers. Most of all these jobs were "homebrewed" for the occasion.
