Topic: Change from 6V to 12V

  Hi,

I have to change my cracked 8BA whit a french flathead. The old engine had standard 6V. Now I want to go for 12V. I have to change ignition coil, starter and alternator. I also have to use a voltage reducer for gauges. Could you recommend some suppliers for this stuff?

Thanks

Michael: I assume that the Frech engine is fitted with 12 volt starter, alternator, etc. I haven't seen a French V8 up close, but some have been sold here in the US. See if the 6 volt items can be shifted to the new engine before you change the rest. The critical parts would be the starter and the coil. Six volt alternators are available. The last place that I know furnished informnation and other needs was Patrick's, here in the US. Their phone number is 602/836-1117. The address for them is Box 648, Casa Grande AZ 85222. The proprietor is Pat Dykes.
