vin number on this truck is 505225018. is there any way to tell what assembly plant this was from?

Vin numbers are strictly a sequential production number. There is no way to determine where it was assembled.

Thanks for the response, I had a feeling that was going to be the case.

The usual number for your truck should begin with 01A, the year code, I believe. Some vehicles without the normal Ford prefix may be either government or fleet units. If you are a Club member, you will find the codes in the front of your member roster. The model code for the pickup is 80A. These model codes were used in most or all years, but none provide assembly information, except for the position (serial number) in the production line sequence.
