I am assembling a 39 ford 1 1/2 ton stake body truck, but have a 38 frame, so I have both sets of axels.Can I use the 38 axels and use the 39 hydraulic brake set up and drums? The 38 axels have less than 8,000 miles on them.

The "green book" shows different numbers for the '38 and '39 axles used in the 122" wheelbase trucks. The difference probably is due to the mechanical vs. hydraulic brake mounts. If you don't have the "clamsh*ll" type axle, the center section appears to be the same for both '38 and '39, and perhaps could be swapped.
