Topic: 1949 FORD PANEL

Just purchased '49 panel truck. Am planning on a full ground up restoration. Found it just in time. Owner was going to rat rod it. It looks to have been an ambulance or something as there is a flat indentation on each corner of the top. The color looks to be a medium green. Body is in great shape with the only rust I can find to be a few small pencil size holes in the passenger floor. The previous owner butchered up the tail pan and cut the bumper brackets off and discarded the rear bumper. I am worried mostly about the tail pan as I see bumpers and hardware are still availabe.
Question 1 (one of many to come)
Is the tail pan still available anywhere?
Question 2
Where do I start researching to find the history and the proper resoration of this truck.

thanks....rob

the tailpan is not being reproduced as far as I know of. most likely you will have to get one from a donor or parts truck- or fabricate one.
I have been restoring F-1's for 35 years and the panel is not much different. there should be 2 lounge seats in front instead of the pickup bench seat. the floor wood was painted black and all of the inside metal was the same color as outside.
