Topic: 51 F2 PAINT CODE LOCATION

caddy40    -- 08-26-2018 @ 6:45 PM
Just started on restoration of a 51 f 2. I am trying to I D the paint code. I know its medium green because a significant amount of original paint is visible. The data plate on the firewall or on the glove box does not have the paint code. There are numbers and letters stamped in the firewall metal. can anyone tell me how to decode these .

Thanks for your response. I have seen the info. you referred too. What is still not clear is that I have studied original paint color charts for sale on e-bay and there are some other green colors shown , GREENBRIER GREEN is one shown for Ford truck in 1951. What I need is the location of the paint code on my 51 F2. The data plate on the glove box door has no paint code info. There are letters and numbers stamped in the sheet metal at the top of the fire wall . I listed those numbers in my original post..Any help in de-coding those numbers will be appreciated.

I am sorry, but I cannot help you with the number stamped on your cowl. The parts catalog only shows how to decode the data plate. Can you cross-reference any of the numbers on the fire wall with the data plate?

The green truck colors for 1951 were Sea Island Green (code G) and Meadow Green (code M). Greenbriar Green was a car color and appears to be between the 2 standard choices.

Does your data plate show a DSO number? A special paint request would usually have a DSO number.

  Tom,
Thank you i think you have helped. I will get a sample of the 'Meadow Green " mixed and check it with the paint still visible on my truck. I think the other choice is too light.

In the Galleries, there are 2 trucks that look like they are painted Meadow Green, one is a 50 and the other is a 52.

On the NIRG web site there is a 51 painted Sea Island Green and a 52 painted Meadow Green.
