Topic: speedometer and cable replacement in 51 F1

I just replaced the speedometer and cable in my 51 F1 truck. Remember this: If you buy a new speedometer (1C-17255-A at Dennis Carpenter) you may have to cut the inside cable 1/16 inch or so. This is because when you tighten the cap screw onto the speedometer it will press the "too long" cable against the inside front of the speedometer and it will not turn, will snap.To test this, first attach cable to the speedometer. Then, before attaching it to the trans, spin it by hand. If it will not spin, remove it from the speedometer and clip the cable 1/16 inch, and try again.
