Topic: Possible restore in future

Greetings all. I can get my hands on a 1948 P/U and are considering doing a restore. First timer and not looking to do a show stopper. It is sitting in the weeds, no engine/trains but the body looks in decent shape. Would like to put in the 300 engine with proper trans. Is there a significant mod issue?

300 engine? 48 to 53 pick ups are highly desirable and are getting hard to find. areas of rrust problems are where front fender section attach to each other from headlight to wheel opening, also below the grill. cab corners are another trouble spot. don't know your location but flathead V8 engines for this truck are available.

By 300 I meant the 300 cu in from 1965. It is said to be a robust engine and I was wondering what mods would be necessary to have it fit. I will take a close look at the spots you mention. Thanks.

Measure the distance from the firewall to the radiator to see if a 300 would fit. It does not fit in a car well. Also the oil pan may interfere with the crossmember or axle
