Hu folks, my first post here. I recently purchased a 1952 F1. It has a 3 on the floor. My vin is F1R2CS20611. Can someone tell me if this was a factory install? Thanks Andy

F1R2CS20611: F1=F-1 (commonly referred to as 1/2-ton), R= 239 V-8, 2=1952, CS=Chester assembly plant and 20611= unit number. As far as I can tell, the standard 3-on-the-floor (referred to as "center shift") wasn't available on the F-1 after 1950. However, the repair manual indicates that the heavy duty 3-speed center shift was available as an option on the F-1 through F-5 models. Richard This message was edited by 51f1 on 2-20-17 @ 1:20 PM

I think the column mounted remote control 3-speed was standard and the floor shift may have been an option. The 1C gears made in 1951 would work in either side shift or top shift cases as long as it was open drive. They were available in 51 and may have been in 52 unless discontinued mid year. There was a heavy duty 3-speed too if I recall correctly.

I had a '51 built at CS also with a HD 3 speed mounted on the floor and 4.11 rear end. Great PU. I am pretty sure the '52s had also. Don
