  How do you determine if a 1950 truck is a early or late model? It makes a difference in certain parts.

Model # 9HC
Can you tell by the Vin #?

  For 1950, the production date is almost always stamped in the cowl under the hood. There should be a star before and after the numbers. Early 1050 codes started with the assembly plant(DA)like Dearborn, then body style(XX)Paint code trim code and then date built, 25B equals February 25. A=Jan, B=Feb etc. Models thru May 12, 1950, more or less, where considered early models. After May 12 the code changed a little but still had the date after trim code.

  Kidder;
In addition, if you are not a V8 Club member, you should join and get the excellent V8 TIMES and member roster. Also you should order the 1949-1951 Restorer's Guide. It has all the coding for bodies, paint and trim for all three years. While it is mostly for cars a large amount of the stuff applies to trucks.
Good Luck, Don

  What parts are you concerned with? I also have a 50 F1. I thought the main difference in the production year were the bed, and the availability of column shift, both very visible.
