On a 1940 Mercury: where is the best place to put Jack stands to support car? Where is best place to just Jack up one wheel of the car? Thanks. New owner.

I usually place the jackstands under the axle. If you have to have the axle free, place them by the running board supports. To remove a rear tire, the running board support is used, so the wheel will drop down out of the fender. The axle is the best place to jack up the front wheel. Tom

I should have said the the frame by the running board support. The running board support will not support the car. Tom
