Ironically...... I bought those bumper wings and they don't fit my '39, bummer! Can anyone tell if these are Ford items? Were 39 and 40 Merc bumpers the same?

The 39 and 40 Merc bumpers are very different from each other. Those tips look like the 40 Merc wing tips. If you show the face, I could be sure. I don't believe that they were available for the 39 Merc. I don't have access to the accessories for the 39 Merc,so I cannot describe the accessories for the bumper. Tom

Those are 1940 Mercury. The indentations should be painted red. Tom

I made a mistake in identifying the bumper wing tips. The Ford wing tips have 3 indentations and the Mercury has 2. The ones shown in this post are Ford, not Mercury. Go to the Gallery and look at the Ford and Mercury photos to see the correct wing tips for 1940. Tom

OK,I was not aware of the Gallery but now very clear to see what is Ford and what is Merc regarding these bumper tips. What I have is Ford. Thanks Tom. Scott
