A couple of questions on the front floor mat...does the ford mat fit the merc...and is the mat black or benton grey??

The 1940 Ford front floor mat is too narrow fro the 1940 Mercury. I used a 1941 Ford front floor mat in my car. The original mats were not black, but that is all you can get at this time. The hole for the dimmer switch is not in the correct place and there are a couple of other areas where it does not fit properly, but it is the closest that I could get. The first front floor mat that I had was a 41 Ford that did not have any of the holes cut out and was not trimmed to size. I was able to trim and cut that one to fit correctly.
