Topic: Removing 1946 Merc rear brake drum

Took out the kotter pin...removed the nut...attached the wheel remover. The brake drum rotates freely but the drum won't budge. Is there a keeper at the spindle and drum?

Cameron, The hub/drum must be removed from the axle by a puller designed to pull at the hub rather than from the wheel lugs. Such a puller is currently available, advertised in the V8 Times, published by the Early Ford V8 Club. It is an excellent reproduction of a KRW puller, as has been used successfully throughout the Early V8 era. It is not cheap, so you may want to check with your local V8 Club Regional Group to borrow one.
