Hi, this is my first time in this forum. I am glad you are here! I am trying to find how is the 1947 Mercury hood emblem. In the internet, there are some pictures but they are hard to see well. The one that I have is the hood ornament with a hole with thread, so I think it is missing a kind of emblem, please see picture attached. In other pictures I could find just the hood ornament but with out the emblem. I really appreciate your support. Regard, LARC

Your hood ornament has been modified by a previous owner to take an aftermarket ornament. The stock 1946-1948 Mercury hood ornament did not have a hole in it. Hi Tom! Thanks for your prompt response and for your tons of post that "feed" this forum! My family has been the only owner of this fantastic 1947 Mercury Eight. My grandfather bought it but he passed away in 1976, so I do not have somebody to ask about the modification. Please find attached a pair of links with two diferent Mercury Hood Emblems. The first one is from a 1931 Buick Mercury or a FTD florist delivery car. It is too small a photo to determine which one it is. FTD florists have used a similar image as their logo from 1910 until today with some modifications over the years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florists%27_Transworld_Delivery The second one looks like the 1942 Mercury car hood ornament. Both of these ornaments are very rare and would be very costly to restore if found. My answers are for USA built and sold cars. If you are from another part of the world, things might be different. They are also about cars as they came from the factory. You own the car and can make any modifications that you wish to. Tom
