Doing repairs to the drive side door latching pieces, as they are waren out.Looking at MAC'S/C&G/Bob Drake,they show replacement parts for Ford. -Does anyone have a schematic of the these door component with parts #'s for 40 Mercury. -Does any one know if the Ford parts will work on the Merc Parts looking to replace: door hinge pins/striker plate/door latch/female dove tail/male dovetail/spring loaded latch on door latch mechanism Thxs

The following parts are unique to the 39-40 Mercury both hinges, door striker plate, and door lock assembly. The hinge pins are the same for Ford and Mercury. I believe that the 11A prefix dovetails will work better on your Mercury than the 48 prefix ones. The 48 Prefix ones were too short for my doors. Check the pictures because both styles were used in 1940. The pot metal 48 prefix ones are shorter than the Bakelite 11A prefix ones. The 11A striker plate looks similar to the ones on my Mercury and may work on yours. The body parts catalog does not give a breakdown on the parts to rebuild a lock assembly and mine were in good condition. Tom
