Topic: VIN LOCATION

shoebox    -- 09-29-2014 @ 3:22 PM
I am trying to locate/verify the vin number on my 1939 merc, which may be early production. I am looking on the top of the driver side frame rain, from base of firewall forward. I am not seeing anything, have been lightly cleaning, nothing abrasive. Weren't these numbers stamped in pretty soundly?

Thank you,
Shoebox

In most cases they were stamped in soundly. They are usually near the steering box mount. Clean off all of the grease and if you still can't see them use brass wool to clean off the rust and paint. Brass wool will not remove solid steel or firm rust, just the loose stuff.

  TomO,
Thanks for the input! I will get some brass wool and focus in the area you mention.

Also I am interested in the 40 heater you mention, PLEASE pm me with info.

Thank You!

Scott, I thought that I did send you a PM. Check your Inbox. If it is not there, I will send another.
