Hi folks, I have a 47 Mercury sedan coupe with a 59ab engine. Should be changing plugs soon what is every one using for replacements plugs.

In two Ford Flathead V-8s that I've had recently, I've used Champion H10C plugs from MAC'S and Autolite 216 plugs from Dennis Carpenter. The H10Cs seemed to work well in a rebuilt '40 Ford 85 HP engine I drove cross-country but may be a little too cold a plug for the V8-60 I have been running on a test stand. I don't have enough experience with the 216s to know how well they will work in the V8-60.

Autolite 216s in my '47 Merc 59AB. Much better performance for me than the Champions by far - both before and after engine rebuild. Use the Champions for judging only and the Autolites for use. Steve

I switched to Champion RJ14YC plugs years ago. That eliminated the usual problems with the H-10s . Set the gap at.028. The Champion box number is 63. They are long snouted with a built in resistor. No more fouling.

Thanks guys for the info, I already had a set of Champion H10's so I'll go with them. But thanks Supereal & Len for the alternatives, I'll definitely check them out.
