Are there any secret ways to replace new spring shackle bolts on a 1946 Merc. Do I have to clamp the springs together. Thanks Mike.

I'm assuming you mean the actual shackle pins at the ends of the spring. This is done with the spring mounted in the car. The easiest way is with a a spring spreader bar or a Port-A-Power to extend the spring while the shackle bars are removed from the spring. It can also be done by careful jacking of the ends of the spring, one at a time. The job should include replacing the pin bushings, which requires removing the old one, usually by cutting. When your question is more clear, most of us can be more specific.
