Topic: 41 Mercury trim clips

The majority of the side trim clips are 3/4" wide.
There are also some that are 3/16" wide. None of the major suppliers have a kit specifically for the 41 Merc. Plastic clips would be ideal but metal clips would work. Does anyone know of a source of appropriate clips. Thank you.

Try Restoration Specialties and Supply, www.restorationspecialties.com, or 814-467-9842. They have the greatest catalog for trim and other items. If they don't have it nobody has them.

I checked them and then Auveco. What would be ideal would be a plastic clip that performed the same function. Then corrosion under the trim would be greatly reduced. Surely somebody makes clips 3/4" wide that would work. 3/16" clips might be a little tougher?

Check the online catalog at C&G www.cgfordparts.com
They have a very wide variety of trim clips, both in sets and individually. They actually know what they are selling!

The Chassis parts catalog for 1941 shows the retainer for the hood side molding is P/N 358184. 9mdimensions 7/16"x53/64" with a 23/32 prong. I don't have a 41 body parts book, so I can't be sure that this is the correct size and the P/N for the Ford hood side molding retainer is not given.

You might check with the 41 Ford Adviser. He may have the body parts catalog and could tell you if the retainers for the Ford and mercury have the same P/N.

I think that the Mercury side trim was thinner than the Ford and would use different clips.
