Anyone with an interest in the evolution of Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury styling should obtain a copy of the late Lorin Sorensen's book "Famous Ford V-8s". It traces the subject from 1932 thru 1948. The collaboration of Edsel Ford and E.T. (Bob) Gregorie indisputably created the enduring masterpieces of that era. Henry Ford gave little credit to his son, Edsel, whose natural ability to incorporate style and grace to the products of the company was a huge factor in the enduring popularity of the products. In fact, he actively opposed his son. In the introduction to the book, Lorin writes "Sadly, his father (Henry) never recognized that one of Ford Motor Company's greatest talents was his own son". Edsel did all that without any formal training, or a real styling department. One of the great ironies of the age was the linking of Edsel's name to the failed product line of that title. He certainly deserved much better.
