Hello, You know with our 6volt Flatheads we need to have a good clean ground to work properly, I would like to add an additional tail light ground Here's what I did with no luck I got an old tail light socket and drilled in a self tapping screw in the side of the metal socket being careful not to hit a wire. The trouble is the metal is so thin I cant tighten the screw with the wire connector without stripping the thing out. Anybody add an additional groud wire to there tail lights? If so...How'd ya do it? Tks,Randy

We clean a spot on the outside of the socket and solder on a piece of wire.

Randy, Your tail lights should not need an extra ground unless your car is very rusty. In most cases of dim lights, the lights are not getting the correct voltage. If your lights are dim, connect a voltmeter between the NEG terminal of the battery and the bullet connector for the tail light. Slip the probe inside the connector so the the lights still work. Turn on the lights and read the meter. Any reading above .1 means that you have excessive resistance in the circuit. Clean all bullet connections and use a corrosion inhibiting grease like CopperSheild from Eastwood. You may have to disassemble your light switch and clean it also. You can check out the grounding system the same way by reversing the leads and going from the POS terminal of the battery to the tail light housing. Tom
