Topic: heater motor, new switch

I am using the original heater in my 48 Fordor. The heater motor is good but I am going to use a newer 2 speed switch out of a 66 ford truck. The motor has 4 wires, 1 ground and 3 for speed and direction[?] The newer switch has 3 wires, 1 power in and two out [speeds].
Can anyone tell me how to wire the new switch with the old motor? Can it be done?
Thanks for any help.
Jim

You can connect it up to work, but will not be able to change directions with a 3 wire switch and depending on the switch, you may not be able to get 2 speeds.

The Yellow and Green wires are for the field. When you have 6 volts across the field your motor will run at high speed. The Red and Brown wires are for the brushes and will control the direction of the motor.

Connect the green wire to the grounding source. If you connect the Yellow and Red wires together and the brown wire to 6 volts The motor will run in one direction, to reverse the direction, reverse the red and brown wire connections.

The 4 wire switches are available and I have one available for sale. Send me a private message. They also show up quite frequently on E-Bay.
