The 39 seat backrest pivot was a bolt on Item. mine is missing. does anybody know where I can get one or what it might interchange with ?

I assume you refer to the bolt that joins the seat back to the seat itself. These are usually a special collared bolt, or a pin secured by a cotter. The nearest I can find is one numbered 72026-S. If you have one from the seat assembly, it can be duplicated by any competent machine shop.

Are you talking about the center bracket hinge or the outside hinge bracket?

The only direct replacement is the 39 or 40 Mercury coupe or convertible for either the center or outer bracket.

You may be able to modify one from another year Ford or Mercury coupe to make it fit.

I am talking about the center bracket. I cut one off of a 47 seat and tried to make it work but the spacing and alignment is just not right. My original bracket (pivot)
disappeared at the powder coater's. I would gladly purchase a whole seat if I could find one.

Your best bet is to advertise for the seat or center bracket hinge.

Watch E-Bay as I have seen coupes being parted out on their.

is a site that searches Craiglist all over the country. When you get a hit, you may have to search the local Craigslist to find the listing.
