Topic: '49 Mercury heater

Hi: My newly aquired woodie does not have a heater, and I would love to get one. I will probably never use it but I just like how they look with the original controls on the dashboard.

Would any one have an extra heater or components that they would be willing to sell?

Can anybody tell me if it is the same heater as in the Fords? I understand controls would be different, but perhaps the heater itself could be the same?

My '50 Merc had a "fresh air" heater that was a part of the dash. Unless you can find a salvage car, it is unlikely you will have one. Most of us don't drive much in cold weather, but even on cool summer nights, my wife insists on turning the heater on.

Thanks! I understand '49 Mercury's use a heater for only that year, inside the interior area, while '50 and '51 have a unit that goes inside the engine compartment. That is why I was hoping that the '49 unit could be the same as the '49 -51 Fords. Would anybody know?

Thanks,
victor
