Topic: Battery box on a '49 Mercury

Hi: I just bought a 1949 Mercury woodie, needing quite a bit of work, but generally solid and perfectly restorable. It is basically complete, but does show some slight deviations from original that I would like to correct. One of them is the battery tray and frame. I suppose the old one was corroded or lost, and a new home made one, was installed. I have seen Ford '49-'51 battery tray replicas for sale, but I am a little lost regarding what in the Mercury is similar to Ford and what isn't and perhaps it is shared with the baby Lincoln.

Can anybody tell me if '49-'51 Ford battery trays are the same as '49-'51 Mercs?

Thanks,
Victor

I'm pretty sure that Mercury used the same battery box as Ford. To be sure call C and G Parts at 1-877-471-2400. They will know if is the same or not.

I agree with Tom. C&G shows the battery tray for '49-'51 Merc as 8M-5154-B. You can see a drawing of it on page 135 of their catalog: www.cgfordparts.com
